When Do Pitbull Puppies Open Their Eyes

When do pitbull puppies open their eyes. During the first day of opening a newborn puppy s eyesight may not be capable yet of seeing too well. Newborn puppies open their eyes when they are about 10 to 14 days old. That s a fact that you should always be aware of. Sometimes in one litter one puppy may open his eyes after 9 days while another may open his after 14 days and yet another will open his after 18 days.

When the puppies are born their eyes are all closed. Puppies eyes will continue to develop over the next several weeks reaching full vision around eight weeks of age. At the end of three weeks the puppy will begin to bark and to interact with those around him. There is no established pattern to know when a puppy will open his eyes.

Two and three week old puppies will be able to track objects with their eyes and judge how far away a toy or a moving object is. Their body color is generally pink and it slowly transforms into the color of the breed. Usually the mother starts weaning her puppies at around 3 4 weeks of age. It depends on the individual puppy.

So while it may seem weird puppies are born without the ability to hear or see. However initially the only sign you may see that the eyes are open is a glint of reflected light. It is only in the second week that the eyes start to open slowly. The eyes will gradually open wider revealing grayish blue eyes with a hazy appearance.
