When Do Feral Kittens Leave Their Mother
I live in an area surrounded by farms so there are a lot of feral cats kittens around but one of these cats is extremely friendly towards me and decided to have her kittens in my garden.
When do feral kittens leave their mother. They are now roughly 2 months old they have lost the blue from their eyes and the mother cat no longer feeds them milk but she still sleeps with them grooms them and plays with them she is a very loving. When looking for the feral kittens make sure to get them within the quiet unseen spots since that s where the mom keeps them. The time varies from one kitten to another since several factors come to play. First of all there is no set age on when the separation should be done.
You should wait for them at about 4 6 weeks since they can be taken by the mom at that point. We have also learned that just as it is best not to intervene with baby birds or bunnies it is best to leave feral kittens with their mothers in their outdoor homes until the kittens are no longer. Feral kittens that are from the same litter may remain together for a time but they face disease cars predators and starvation that may separate them. Once the kittens are fully weaned around 10 to 12 weeks old they are old enough to move away from their mama.
But what age can you do this at. However a kitten is typically ready to leave his mother at about 8 to 12 weeks of age. Plus the female kitten can be impregnated as young as 4 months old and have several litters a year. During this time the kittens will still occasionally nurse on their mother but they will also start to eat liquid kitten food.
One goes to seek food and never returns.
